Quote from NME 15th May 99, "...we can take
comfort in the knowledge that our pop stars, as ambassadors abroad, are
in no way embarrassing us. Take Mel C,
for example, who recently joined John Taylor &
Steve Jones' band the Neurotic Outsiders
onstage at Johnny Depp's Viper Rooms in LA for a rendition of "Anarchy
In The UK". Only - hurgh! - she changed the lyrics! "I am an anarchist",
she growled "I am a Sporty Spice...". God help us all."

"Young Guns (Go For It)" series (BBC2 TV) reviewing top groups
from the '80's featured Bananarama as its subject on the 15th January
edition.
Sarah Dallin &
Keren Woodward from the group described how they'd met Paul in a club,
then he turned up at the door of the YWCA they were staying in! The girls
then livedat Steve & Paul's rehearsal rooms in Denmark St, London,
for a year.
The programme took
Sarah & Keren back to Denmark St, and the outside toiletwas still
there! A snippet of "Little Boys" then followed as the girls mentioned
that Paul & Steve formed a group "The Professionals". They allowed
them to do backing vocals (on which tracks?!) and learnt some guitar chords.
It was Paul who suggested
they get a group together & of course produced & played on their
1st single "Aie A Mwana" (see "Postscript Professionals")
"...Bless him. But
refused to be in this film!" added Sarah.
The sequence featured
photos of Paul with the girls, the girls with guitars, plus a shot of the
cover of "The Professionals" CD (the Virgin '97 release).
Unfortunately, Paul's
absence seemed to give rise to Malcolm McLaren's inclusion in the programme.
Apart from one disastrous meeting with him he had nothing to do with the
group but still tried to claim some credit.
Paul, WHERE WERE
YOU?!!
